Commerce, CA – At their June Board Meeting, the Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors recognized Charlie Bonilla as the District’s 2018 “Water Is Life” poster contest winner. Most recently, Charlie was an eighth grade student at Edwards Middle School in Whittier. His poster will be featured in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s “Water Is Life” calendar.

“Charlie’s artwork exemplifies the need for us to be better stewards of our environment and our most precious resource for future generations of Californians,” said Board President Robert Apodaca, “We would like to thank each of the students for their posters, it is very encouraging to see our youth being so interested and engaged in water issues.”

The “Water Is Life” poster contest is a partnership between the Central Basin Municipal Water District and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to highlight student art during Water Awareness Month. The poster contest serves as an opportunity for students throughout the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s service area to promote conservation through art.
