Leticia Vasquez

Leticia Vasquez, Director, Division IVDirector Leticia Vasquez was re-elected on the Central Basin Board of Directors in November 2016 to represent the cities of Lynwood, South Gate, Florence-Graham, Willowbrook and portions of Compton and Carson. She is a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants. Her father Luis is from Michoacan, and mother Olga from Sinaloa. Leticia has five siblings. She was born at Dominguez Valley Hospital in Compton, and reared in Lynwood. Leticia attended local parochial schools, and taught in Lynwood schools. In 2003 she was elected to serve on the Lynwood City Council and in 2005 made history as the city's first Latina mayor. As a councilmember, she led one of the city's most aggressive lobbying efforts in Washington D.C. and Sacramento securing millions of dollars in funding for parks projects, affordable housing, street improvement, the Lynwood City Hall expansion project and a new state-of-the-art senior citizen center. Leticia holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Master of Public Policy & Administration in Urban Affairs, and a Master's Degree in Education from Pepperdine University.
